EDC can work with any company, of any size, operating in any sector of the economy anywhere in Canada. Premium rates under the ARI policy are based on several factors including:
- Type of coverage selected;
- Payment terms offered;
- Type of goods being exported;
- Countries involved;
- Exporter's bad debt experience; and
- Credit risk assessment of the Exporter's buyer portfolio.
The process
- EDC receives an application form from the Exporter;
- Where the Exporter’s goods/services meet EDC’s coverage eligibility criteria, EDC will then issue a Letter of Offer to the Exporter. The Letter of Offer will include the applicable premium rates, countries of cover, maximum terms of payment coverage, policy liability, policy deductible if applicable and the amount of the acceptance fee; and
- Upon Exporter acceptance, the policy is activated and the policy documents are sent to the Exporter.
Small Business ARI Policy If the Exporter has export sales less than CAD 1.0 million a year, they can call 1-866-283-2957. Insurance coverage can be put in place over the phone. The Exporter can also apply online, or download an application form (PDF Format) at http://www.edc.ca/.
