EDC can now help you with your credit insurance needs for your business in Canada. We are providing re-insurance for domestic receivables to Canada’s private credit insurance providers, who are accessing this capacity to do more for you and your sales in Canada.Domestic credit insurance covers you against a wide range of commercial risks including:
- your customer refusing to pay;
- refusal to accept the goods;
- bankruptcy or insolvency; and
- contract cancellation.
Extra capacity to support your business
EDC and Canada’s private credit insurance providers are collaborating to facilitate up to $1 billion in new domestic credit to help Canadian companies. EDC is providing re-insurance for domestic receivables to Canada’s private credit insurers, who will then access this capacity to do more for their customers or take on new business.
Guidelines & eligibility
EDC’s domestic credit insurance is based on the following guidelines:
- Non-exporters in all sectors are eligible for EDC domestic credit insurance.
- Transactions must be creditworthy and supported by a viable business model.
- It is available from private insurance providers and not directly from EDC.
