Disclosure Practices
EDC recognizes that disclosure of information is critical for demonstrating accountability and public awareness of, and confidence in, the execution of its mandate. EDC discloses information on financing, political risk insurance to lenders, and equity transactions.
Compliance Officer Program
The Compliance Officer enhances accountability in areas such as environmental review and business ethics, by acting as an independent body to respond directly to public concerns.
Stakeholder Engagement
As part of our strategy to engage and dialogue with external stakeholders on issues of mutual concern, EDC regularly holds public consultations, as well as dialogue and information sessions with interested parties.
Public consultations are held to solicit the opinions of informed external stakeholders on proposed policy changes. Most recently, public consultations were convened around the Disclosure Policy (PDF Format) and the Environmental Review Directive. To ensure neutrality, EDC contracts an independent third party to organize and conduct these consultations. Participants represent a cross-section of stakeholders from customers to non-governmental organizations and experts in the relevant topics.
Dialogue and information sessions constitute part of EDC’s stakeholder engagement strategy to inform interested external stakeholders about EDC practices or policies. Participation is limited to those with a demonstrated interest in the subject to be addressed.
