Community Investment

We demonstrate our commitment to strengthening the communities in which we live and work through various educational and volunteering initiatives. Our community investment strategy focuses on three priorities : international business and trade education for youth, our partnership with CARE Canada and charitable contributions of time and financial resources on diverse social causes.

Youth Education on International Business and Trade

In partnership with Canadian educational institutions and key stakeholders, our Youth Education Program creates learning opportunities for young Canadians on the importance of international business and trade. Learn more

Partnership with CARE Canada

Since 2009, we have worked with CARE Canada to expand economic opportunities in emerging markets. This joint global community investment initiative, known as “Beyond Exports,” strengthens CARE’s Enterprise and Economic Development projects through the transfer of EDC’s expertise.

Charitable Campaign

Each fall, EDC participates in the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC), whose principal partner is the United Way. The GCWCC has a long-standing relationship with the United Way, a leader in community investment for over a century. EDC has partnered with the GCWCC for over 10 years, and EDC employees donate over $250,000 annually to their charity of choice through the month-long campaign.

Charitable Contributions

Through our Charitable Donations Program we provide financial donations to charitable organizations where our employees demonstrate ongoing involvement as volunteers.
