To achieve our 2030 vision of regaining Canada’s standing as a leader in international trade, we need to catalyze net-new export growth. We’re focusing on the high-growth sectors and markets with the strongest economic potential for Canadian businesses: agri-food, clean technologies (cleantech), advanced manufacturing, digital industries and resources of the future.

Agri-food has long been one of Canada’s economic strengths. The sector is varied, ranging from fishing, farming and ranching to transportation, processing and retail. It includes many innovative farmers and firms that are primed for growth and can make a meaningful contribution to help close Canada’s trade gap.
In 2022, we established plans to accelerate our support for the sector and facilitated more than $14 billion in business, an 18% increase over 2021.
