Kazakhstan, has significant natural resources, fossil fuels as well as other minerals and metals, such as uranium, copper, and zinc. It also has a large agricultural sector. Although the extractive sector continues to be the main sector behind Kazakhstan's growth, the country is pursuing a growth diversification strategy, aimed at developing sectors like transportation, infrastructure and telecommunications. A new five-year fiscal stimulus plan announced by the government will include the modernization of physical infrastructure and assistance to the banking sector, which has yet to fully recover from its 2009 crisis.
