Jean-Christian began his diplomatic career in 2003 as a Political Officer at the Canadian Embassy in France. He then held a number of positions in Ottawa, mainly focusing on international security issues such as Canada’s participation in the international Campaign against Terrorism and Non-proliferation, Arms control and Disarmament. Jean-Christian served as Deputy Director with the Afghanistan Task Force and conducted several missions to Afghanistan between 2008 and 2010. From 2010 to 2014, he was posted to the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao as the Head of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service. Subsequent to that, Jean-Christian was Counsellor (Commercial) at the Embassy of Canada in China (Beijing) from 2016 to 2018, and Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of Canada in Shanghai from 2018 to 2021. He recently began his new assignment as Minister (Commercial) at the Embassy in Beijing where he oversees Canada’s trade and investment program across our China network.
