Mexico is one of Canada’s Top 10 export destinations. With its growing consumer class, younger, better educated labour force and proximity to the United States, Mexico offers many opportunities for Canadian businesses.

Export Development Canada (EDC) held an exclusive virtual event series that focused on some of Mexico’s largest companies who shed light on their operations and upcoming projects, procurement needs and requirements, and opportunities for Canadian companies. The discussions moved from high-level strategy to immediate procurement opportunities and closed with an opportunity for you, Canadian exporters, to pose questions.

Episode 1: Doing Business in Mexico – Wednesday November 3rd, 2021 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET 

  • Episode one in this virtual series, “Doing Business in Mexico” provided insights to Canadian companies on Mexico’s export landscape to help you make an informed decision as to whether Mexico is a potential market for you. 

Episode 2: Doing Business with Alpek – Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET 

  • Episode two “Doing Business with Alpek” provided attendees with an opportunity to hear directly from Alpek -  a $5.3B USD global petchem processing company with 31 manufacturing plants in 7 countries producing over 8 millions tons of  polyester (PET, rPET, PTA, fibers) and plastics/chemicals (Polypropylene, styrenes, caprolactam, and specialty chemicals) per year. Alpek shared details about their operations and upcoming projects, procurement needs and requirements, and opportunities for you!

Episode 3: Doing Business with Soriana – Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 from 11 to 12 p.m ET 

  • Episode three, “Doing Business with Soriana” provided attendees with an opportunity to hear directly from Soriana -  the second largest supermarket chain in Mexico (behind Walmart) operating 824 stores and 14 distribution centers across the 32 states in Mexico. The company’s supermarkets offer various grocery products, perishable goods, food, clothing, general merchandise, health products and basic household services under retail, medium wholesale and wholesale formats. If you are a Canadian company selling any of these products, you are not going to want to miss this opportunity to hear directly from Soriana about their immediate and upcoming needs.

Episode 4: Doing Business with Sigma Alimentos – Thursday, November 18th, 2021 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET 

  • Episode four, “Doing Business with Sigma Alientos” provided insights to Canadian companies on Sigma Alimentos - a $6.5B USD global food processing company with 70 manufacturing facilities in 18 countries processing 1.7 million tons of cooked meats, dried meats, yogurt, cheese, and other dairy products per year. Sigma shared details about their upcoming procurement needs and opportunities for Canadian companies.

Episode 5: Doing Business with Axtel – Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET
