Today, Export Development Canada was named “Export Credit Agency of the Year” by Trade & Export Finance (TXF), one of the principal sources of news, data and innovative events specializing in trade and export finance. This award was presented at the TXF Global 2018 Export and Agency Finance conference in Prague, with more than 800 delegates from banks, export credit agencies, exporters, insurance companies, brokers, and institutions from around the globe.
TXF surveyed more than 200 exporters and users of export finance in their annual exporters’ survey. Exporters were asked to score export credit agencies (ECA) and trade finance banks in terms of flexibility, understanding of business, speed of execution, risk appetite, capacity, and customer service. EDC received the highest scores for an ECA.
“It is an honour to receive this award. EDC’s mandate to support and develop Canadian companies, helping them grow into international champions is what drives us to perform and help them succeed,” said Benoit Daignault, Chief Executive Officer at EDC. “This recognition reinforces our approach to constantly improve and evolve the way we work to ensure we are doing our best for Canadian businesses small and large.”
In 2017, EDC served 9400 companies – the largest number in EDC’s 73-year history. Canada’s export credit agency also supported more than CAD 100 billion in exports, foreign investment and trade development activities. As a trading nation, with 60 per cent of our GDP dependent on trade, success abroad translates to more competitive businesses and a stronger economy at home.
