Life at EDC
Anything but typical.
Anything but typical.
EDC is an international business with a community feel where you’ll find great benefits, abundant opportunities and—most of all—a place for you.
Enjoy a competitive salary plus comprehensive benefits for your whole family. Those include medical and dental plans, life insurance, group-rate home and car insurance, scholarships for eligible children of employees and a pension to support you down the road. You also get a health spending account you can manage yourself to cover extra health-related costs.
We see wellbeing as a function of body, heart and mind. That’s reflected in all our workplaces. We have an on-site fitness centre at headquarters (and offer fitness club allowances if you work at a regional office). We support flexible work arrangements like teleworking. And we make counselling and mental health information services available.
I had the opportunity to begin working at EDC as a student. Each day was fast-paced, exciting and interesting. It didn’t take me long to realize EDC was somewhere I aspired to work long-term—the dynamic culture, the stimulating work, the dedicated and diverse people, and the variety of roles within the corporation are just a few of the many reasons why EDC is a fantastic place to be.
The world of international business is fast, competitive and constantly changing. To help Canadian companies, we need to keep our knowledge and skills ahead of the curve. That’s why we invest in your learning—whether you want to attend a conference, boost your language skills or further your education. And with so many different departments, teams and roles within EDC, your career path can lead almost anywhere. We’re proud to consistently rank among the top learning and development organizations in North America.
Recognition is a big part of how we work together at EDC. That culminates every year with a formal recognition awards ceremony at our employee conference—and every day brings opportunities to acknowledge and celebrate a job well done with the people around you.
Compliance and Ethics is filled with some of the most fascinating subject matter I’ve come across in my career. Learning and having conversations with subject-matter experts always gives me “Oh, wow” moments.
As a workplace, EDC reflects the diversity and inclusive values of Canada as well as the vast range of traditions, experiences and human traits that make up the wider world. We earned recognition as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for providing a workplace where people feel like they belong and can bring their true selves to work.
EDC has been one of the country’s Top 100 Employers 16 times. Why? Because we believe our people are fundamental to our success. Because we mean what we say about health and wellness, engagement and supporting our communities. Because we support new parents with maternity and parental leave top-ups and topical workshops. And because we’re considered one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers. If you’re looking for a place to work where you’ll be welcomed, EDC is it.
We operate out of a spectacularly designed open-concept headquarters in Ottawa, built to LEED Gold standards for both construction and interior features. There are large cafés and lounges on each floor, multiple large event and meeting spaces, training rooms and telepresence rooms throughout. There’s even a fifth-floor apiary in our building with honey-producing beehives—with the proceeds from honey sales going toward our annual charitable campaign.
