Trade Finance presented Export Development Canada (EDC) with its Best Global Export Credit Agency award at its 2016 Annual Trade Finance and Global Awards ceremony held in London UK, March 16, 2016.
Trade Finance is the market-leading resource for news and analytics on structured trade finance (including
export & agency, and commodity finance) and supply chain finance (including factoring and forfaiting).
The Trade Finance awards celebrate the best in class in trade, export, and commodity finance over the past year.
“This award recognizes EDC’s increased presence and exposure in priority emerging markets in Africa and the Middle-East,” said Stephen Wilhelm, Regional Vice President, Director of Business Development in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. “It highlights both our ability to participate directly in transactions and partner with other agencies to bring deals to the finish line.”
Earlier in March, EDC was awarded Trade Finance’s Best Export Credit Agency in the Americas award at a ceremony held in Miami, and received Trade Finance awards for two of its transactions in the EMEA region.
The transactions included EDC’s participation in a USD 1.8 B corporate facility for Dubal of Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) and EDC’s contribution to a line of credit of USD 105 M with Afrexim Bank for Egypt’s Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.
For both transactions, Trade Finance recognized the quality, innovation, and market influence of EDC’s deal making, as well as the diversity of EDC’s product offering. The organization also noted EDC’s ability to close deals despite adverse market conditions.
