EDC and Canada’s exporters: A 75-year partnership | EDC

International trade is an integral part of Canada’s history. But it wasn’t until after the Great Depression and Second World War that we started to blossom into a major trading nation and it became clear the country needed an export credit agency to help Canadian businesses succeed internationally.

Established in 1944, that agency, later known as Export Development Canada, is now celebrating 75 years of helping Canadian companies expand beyond our borders. Here are some highlights of Canada’s exporting history and EDC’s corporate milestones.
