The political uprising in 2011 brought Bahrain’s economic activity to a standstill. Since then, economic activity remains slower than initially forecasted although its economy has seen signs of recovery following government intervention and aid from neighboring states. Bahrain remains highly dependent on oil and gas windfalls and dwindling oil and gas reserves have forced the country to diversify its economy. Both the financial and manufacturing sectors contribute to the country’s GDP with increased efforts to further diversify its economy.
