Business environment in Finland

Finland is a wealthy Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) country that has a strong commercial relationship with Canada. The country enjoys a stable, healthy, economy with a strong political system. As with most modern economies, trade is an important part of Finland’s market. EDC sees excellent business and investment potential across a wide range of sectors in the market. Finland is ranked among the most prosperous nations in the world, with a highly educated population, dynamic economy and friendly business environment. As the country is highly reliant on trade, the recovery of its European partners following the COVID-19 pandemic will be critical for its medium-term outlook. The commercial environment remains challenged by structural problems—including high labour costs and lower spending in R&D—affecting innovation capacity in key industries already in decline, like electronics and paper/forestry.
