Business environment in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is special administrative region (SAR) of the People’s Republic of China. Its commercial environment is one of the most highly regarded in Asia due to its:
  • pro-business government policies;
  • minimal corruption;
  • low tax regime;
  • well-developed capital market; and
  • financial system.
The region is seen as a business-friendly gateway to mainland China, which has helped attract high levels of foreign direct investment (FDI). Given ongoing geopolitical developments, it’s important that Canadian exporters and investors conduct the necessary due diligence prior to entering the market. Export Development Canada (EDC) serves Canadian companies in China through our local representations in Shanghai and Beijing.
