Macao is a special administrative region (SAR) in China. While the Chinese central government is responsible for the territory's defence and foreign affairs, Macao is autonomous in financial and judicial matters. It has one of the world's highest economic growth rates and encourages investment through its free port policy and low taxes. The region is fully open for business, but the scope is limited by the size and structure of its economy.
