In the spirit of the holiday season, I wanted to share something a little lighter than what we usually post in this space. I’m sharing something that is a little more personal to me – that’s the importance for individuals to give back to their communities.

I’m so proud that EDC fosters this spirit of giving. In early December, EDC staff formed three teams to take part in the 24h Tremblant 2020 virtual edition fundraiser. They offered their weekend, their hearts and their sweat to raise money for children in need.  Together, these three teams raised more than $30,000 for the cause!

This event means a great deal to me. For the past six years, I have taken part in this event to raise funds for CHEO, Charles Bruneau Foundation and Tremblant Foundation. I was thrilled to see others in my workplace give back too. I was impressed at the extent to which EDCers stepped-up, weaved-up, danced-up and cheered during the 24h period. COVID-19 doesn’t have to stop people working towards a cause they believe in. As well as contributing to a great cause, I had the chance to see another side of the people I work with at EDC who were taking time to give to others in need, while having fun individually and as a team.  I also discovered multiple hidden talents of team members.

In this time of COVID-19 isolation, I encourage you all to stay connected with your friends and colleagues, and be inspired by your workmates while helping others.

Seeing the spirit of my colleagues during this event made me feel privileged to be part of a great organization.

The 24-hour relay is a way of giving back that means a great deal to me personally. I’m proud to work at EDC, where giving back is a large part of what we do. EDC supports the causes our employees care about through financial support and volunteer time off. In 2020, we supported more than 30 charitable organizations across Canada because of the involvement of our employees in their communities. You’ll see more about EDC’s corporate giving initiatives in the New Year.
