Israel is a developed country with a technologically advanced and diversified economy as well as a highly skilled workforce. Improvements in the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA) in 2014 have created opportunities and have eliminated and reduced tariffs on agricultural and fisheries products, furthering our trade ties. Canada has an established trade and investment relationship with Israel, with high potential for business opportunities across a wide range of sectors. Similar to many countries, Israel has been impacted by COVID-19; especially the travel and tourism sectors. However, the country delivered a successful vaccine rollout that has helped its economic recovery. Over the long term, the country’s high-tech economy is well-positioned to remain a regional outperformer.
