Dave Russell started in the nondestructive testing (NDT) services business in 1964 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. He immigrated to Canada in 1966 and worked for four years at Warnock Hersey International and Hanson Materials Engineering (now Acuren).
In 1972, he and his wife, Julie, founded what’s now Russell NDE Systems Inc., which provides inline inspections for the oil and gas industry in Canada. Based in Edmonton, AB, they’ve loved growing a company and working with great people. NDT has been the passion of his life—second only to his wife of 57 years and his three children and 11 grandchildren.
Certified in radiography, ultrasonics and eddy current inspection techniques, Russell is a “Fellow” of the Canadian Society of NDT and former vice-chair of the Electromagnetics Committee of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). He’s taught NDT at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), as well as many training classes for his company, and contributed to an electromagnetics handbook for the institute and training standards for nondestructive testing.
Russell loves the outdoors and particularly “time at the lake” where he canoes, plays golf and drives quads.
