Tareq Hadhad is the founder and CEO of Peace by Chocolate, an award-winning company based in Nova Scotia.
For nearly 30 years, Hahad and his family shipped their specialty chocolates across Europe and the Middle East from their homeland in Syria. But in 2012, their factory was destroyed by bombing and the family was forced to flee to Canada.
In 2016, they relaunched their company, which has become a symbol of their resilience, hope and entrepreneurship.
In more than 1,000 media interviews worldwide, Hadhad has shared his family’s remarkable journey to Canada and is a sought-after keynote speaker. A book and two movies have been made about the family’s triumph over adversity, including Shokolata (Arabic for chocolate), an animated film from Rising Tide Films.
