Mongolia is a small economy, but one that is focused on the country’s key sector: mining. Looking forward, Mongolia will continue to seek opportunities to diversify its economy by growing its non resource based sectors such as the infrastructure and the agriculture sectors. Mongolia’s budgetary environment continues to pose challenges due to persistent and low commodity prices that are expected to continue to undermine the country's macroeconomic performance. Trade and foreign investment continues to be of high importance to the country's economy.
