Export Development Canada (EDC) has again been ranked in the top ten among the Corporate Knights 2016 Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada.
“For EDC, good corporate social responsibility practices go beyond what happens within our walls,” says Signi Schneider, Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), EDC. “Each time we conduct a CSR review for a transaction, we aim to have a positive impact on the business community in the process. Being top ranked once again as a Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leader is a testament to our work in this area.”
The sustainability of each organization is determined based on publicly available data across 12 sector-specific performance indicators, such as greenhouse gas emissions, health and safety, pay equity, leadership diversity and innovation. Corporate Knights is a research organization, which annually assesses the sustainability of corporations in Canada. The Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders index recognizes organizations with revenues of less than $2 billion, or less than 2,000 employees. This year there were 107 organizations considered for the category.
“It’s no easy feat to be a Future 40 company but the fact that EDC is once again among the top-ranked organizations is an illustration of its continued dedication to excellence in corporate sustainability,” said Michael Yow, Lead Analyst, Corporate Knights.

This assessment recognizes the organizations which may one day be considered for the annual ‘Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada’, a ranking of organizations with annual revenues of more than 2 billion, and more than 2,000 employees, also released by Corporate Knights.
