Canadian businesses in the cultural sector—ranging from arts and entertainment to designing architectural plans and video games—contributed more than $59.1 billion to our nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 and created more than 670,000 jobs.

Although these figures are impressive, only 7% of the 55,000 businesses in creative industries are selling their goods and services internationally. That leaves the potential for significant growth in the sector if more companies started exporting.

Read this insightful report, a collaboration between EDC Economics and the Department of Canadian Heritage, to learn more about Canada’s untapped potential in the cultural exports sector.
