Cameroon has a relatively diversified economy with modest oil and gas resources and a significant potential in the power, infrastructure and mining sectors. Cameroon appears to be a good Central African partner for Canada, with export potential growing in sectors that match Canadian capabilities. The country membership of Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) is seen as a positive as it helps with currency volatility. However, the business environment is difficult and negatively impacted by increasing tensions between the English-speaking regions and the government, and the insecurity in the North.
