While landlocked, Ethiopia is strategically located in the horn of Africa. The country is one of the largest on the continent and has enjoyed significant economic growth in recent years, led by agriculture, services and construction. Ethiopia's economy remains dependent on the agriculture sector, mainly coffee exports. Its fertile land, lakes and rivers offer opportunities for expansion of irrigated agriculture, fish production and significant hydroelectric power generation. Existing trade with neighboring countries and Canada is limited, but there appears to be trade opportunities across a wide range of sectors that match Canadian capabilities.
