Argentina is one of the largest economies in Latin America with a GDP of more than US 600 billion and is one of the world’s largest exporters of beef. Argentina is rich in natural resources and is a major food producer thanks to its large scale agriculture and livestock industry. Argentina's domestic economy has been subject to government intervention, growing trade protectionism and foreign-exchange controls. Private investment has been deterred by a changing regulatory environment and legal framework. General elections will be held in October 2015 and the political and economic environment may change thereafter.
